Mr. Golf, Please Be Kind!
A recent trip to the golf course inspired this post and, of course, the significant buzz surrounding the USGA 2012 US Open which is being organized at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. Live Streaming Of Marquee Grouping Everyone is watching the grouping of Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Bubba Watson play their first round.
We have always considered a “good” to be someone who can shoot par on a regular basis. The rest of us fall into varying degrees of “not so good.” However, we have come to realize in certain outings anyone can be considered “good” if everyone else plays poorly. Sadly, golf is not a sport people regularly flock to for group fun. Most of the times, it is one of the following: bowling, softball, volleyball, football, basketball and if you were to ask our little one, she would say jumping rope – it is one of her new favorite pastimes. Certainly, golf, not putt-putt, is rarely on the short list. We do not measure up to the professionals by any means except, perhaps, in enthusiasm for the game, but if you shoot in the 80′s, we consider you to be a “good” golfer – on the other hand, a “beginner” can shoot a 116+ and send us all into terrifying shame. With significant factors such as posture, vision, patience and comfortable shoes, the golf course is no place for show-offs because in this game, the wind can take you down!
