TRUE STYLE

What do you consider True Style to be?

Why is Iris Apfel captivating? Why do our eyes linger on her? Is it her clothes, her jewelry, her ginormous glasses or is it something else?

We define her style as fearless and exquisite. It appears a sense of amazing freedom guides her fashion choices. She wears wonderful fabrics and textures but that is to be expected as she is a textile genius. She layers her bold and gorgeous jewelry in a magnificent order.  It is like what the wise say …do not worry about tomorrow, it is not promised – and we add so wear what you want and how you want today and live now in total enjoyment.  It seems she does not follow trends but follows her own instincts of what works best for her. Her style today is what it was years ago. It does not tire or bore or stifle inspiration because it is her true style yielded by her own decisions, her own confidence and her own vision. She is mature and we have to believe she knows exactly what she likes and who she is – and perhaps, that is why she is, at ninety years old, a fashion icon who inspires the young.

True style begins with knowing  yourself, being yourself and trusting your own vision, and decisions.  No one can know you better than you know yourself and if any one says they do, then they possess foolish confidence liken to those who tell their secrets. How foolish is it to believe one can control the tongue of another?

Like J. Simon says, your style belongs to you so take control of it!

Let us not be harsh to others regarding their style. It is a form of self-expression. Let them be them and you be you. Our differences make fashion interesting and above all fun!

Her hair cut is definitely stylish and the color adds to the appeal. At that age, we should all be confident and care less about little things like what people think. And maybe even wear all our jewelry at the same time!
